Caution

Caution

This is a shirt a martial arts teacher from yoga gave me. He says it's a good luck t-shirt, he's cheering me on in my job hunt. I might need to take up some karate lessons from him just so the shirt's not lying when I wear it...

Mya

I can't believe I missed all the posts in June. June sure was a rough month for Alfred, his family and I.

Not sure if you all know but Alfred's mom passed away at home in the middle of June. We were all able to witness her last breath. It was heartbreaking to watch and seemed so helpless but we took comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering from the UGLY "C" word. For the next few days, there was just so much to do with so little time. Her funeral arrangements, government paper works, insurance claim, her investments, and it's just pile and pile of things to get done. Now, we're starting to renovate the house and the next step is to sell it.

The situation truly was bittersweet for me. I have all the time and freedom now but it's not the same. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things but of course I still miss them dearly. Hopefully time will heal, and we will only cherish the great memories we had with them.

I hope all you ladies are doing good and I would like the monthly meet up to really happen. I'll try to update you all on a regular basis

The Adventures of Thi and Seto

Thi and I hung out today...well yesterday since I'm posting this at 2:15 AM.

Shirbo wasn't able to join us due to lack of a car.

Here's the itinerary:
  1. Lunch @ The Fish House
  2. Tiny bit of shopping at David's Bridal
  3. Dress shopping at Phoebe's Collection (Thanks to Thi, I now have something to wear to her wedding. Thanks man!)
  4. Watched Bad Teacher
  5. Chinese dessert at Tracy Dessert
  6. Dinner at Chako's
Highlight of the day: Tracy Dessert only accept cash, Thi and I didn't really have any. We tried to squeeze out everything we had only to be 7 cents short!!!
Solution: A visit to the money-robbing ATM...

Oh yeah before walking into dinner I snapped a shot of the sun, the clouds made its way in there as well.

Looking forward to see you all at the bachelorette!

Shirley

Just wanted to share a quick story/situation I encountered today. I was volunteering at Scotia Plaza today for Avon's Penny roll-a-thon raising awareness for breast cancer and our goal is to raise 125M pennies by October.

We had a table set up and pretty much people can just walk up to us and donate whatever change they have, if they choose to. So this one guy walks right up to us holding a loonie and asks for 50cents back because he only wants to donate 50 cents. We just took a batch of donation to the bank so we had nothing to give back to him. But he insists on getting some sort of change back. He saw something silver and said "Oh, can I get a quarter back?" "No you can't because that's a dime" So he then gives up and wants a dime back.

I'm really puzzled on his action and can't seem to put a finger on what kind of person he is. Stingy? Weird? Crazy? I can't tell. I personally was thinking in my head, if you're going to do this, might as well just walk pass us and not donate anything.

Many women actually walked pass us and we even called out to them to donate to breast cancer. But they continued. They should stop and think that this common and scary disease can affect someone they know, someone close to them or even themselves. Why are we trying to hard to raise money for something that might happen to those people? But I can't think too much of that because overall, this is for a good cause and I'd help with whatever I can. If anything happens to them, then they'll know maybe their penny might've made a difference. It's really up to them to come to realization.

If you girls want more info about this campaign we're having, check out http://www.avoneverypennycounts.ca. If you can help out by donating whatever pennies you have, that'll even be better! I have penny wrappers with me and I can drop off some for you or you can download them from the site. Just let me know! =) I'm going to continue rolling my pennies.

Simone

Hi everyone,

I just want to say I'm not sure if I can make it to Thi's wedding. I'm so sorry, Thi. I really wanted to come and celebrate your special day. However, I am going through health problems, and will need a lot of time off for surgery and recovery during August and September.

Four months ago, the doctor has discovered a lump protruding from my neck. After a series of tests and biopsies, it's been confirmed that I have a 4 cm lump on my right thyroid. The sample they've acquired was benign, but due to the size of the nodule, the results can't be assumed accurate. Given the size and uncertainty of the malignancy of the nodule, my entire right thyroid will be surgically removed. Further tests will be conducted to determine if the lump was cancerous. If so, additional surgery, radiation, etc may follow.

I feel extremely bad that I may not be able to attend the wedding. I hope you understand, Thi. I will come to the bachelorette party though. So see you girls soon!

Transformers - Dark of the Moon

The youngest brother wanted to watch Transformers very badly and since Waige already watched it with his girlfriend it was my duty as a big sister to take him.

Being the kid that he is, he loved it. I didn't so much. This movie is a great example that quality will always be sacrificed if you have too much quantity. There was action...LOADS of it, but none that were especially intricate in the CG execution. And speaking of CG, LOADS of that as well. What else is there a lot of? Screaming. Every human being in that movie was running and screaming, standing and screaming, flailing their arms and screaming, sliding and screaming, (insert random action here) and screaming. I think you get the picture...

I gotta hand it to Michael Bay. He's got this thing figured out. Take a classic anime, turn it into a cash cow. Acquire more budget for the sequels and you can pay actors millions for not doing what they're supposed to do. BRILLIANT!

Happy Canada Day!

Fireworks

Happy Canada Day girls! I went out to take pictures of the fireworks. Not as hard as I thought it'd be but not as easy as described in articles either. Hope next year's will be better. I've included one of the better shots.

Hair Cut

Hair Cut

I finally went out and got a haircut. As much as I want to leave it long, I have very little hair so it's not very sustainable, or so says the stylist. I'll take her word for it I guess. I should make an effort to take care of my hair. The first comment I always hear from people when I walk into a salon is: "My, what dry ends you have! When was the last time you got a haircut???"

Any plans for the long weekend girls?
