Hey lovely ladies!

No post since Oct 2011...
First post for 2012!

It's 3am and I have pregnancy insomnia, So I would just like to quickly reach out and thank, you girls for coming and surprising me on Saturday (Shannon, I heard the great news! Congrats, cant wait to meet him =D). I was definitely surprised and when I scanned the room and saw all familiar faces, that's when it made me cry. Thank you for all the gifts! I can definitely stop panicking and thinking I'm not prepared for this baby bc you ladies were generous and thoughtful enough to shower our baby with the essentials.

It was also soo good to see everyone, and I'm sorry for not being able to spend more time chit chatting...the time literally flew by.

I know I may be repetitive but...
Thank you Simone and Anne for the awesome gift basket! Totally packed with lots and lots of goodies!
Thank you Lisa for the cute snowsuit/swaddle blanket and socks
Thank you Thi and Dave for the gift card (I can use that towards a few more missing items)
Last but definitely not least, Thank you Shirley and Mike for the bassinet and the rocker. I will have an easier time putting the munchkin to sleep if he or she is giving me trouble in the middle of the night! hahahaha

I hope to see you ladies soon, but maybe after i deliver as there are days when i feel like I got beat up in the groin so walking is a challenge! LOL

Update of crazy chinese drama of Shirley

OK so here's the next episode of this awesome drama that's going on.

Ex-aunt moved out today. Leaving a note for my uncle like she did to the asshole. Her note to uncle was, "I don't want you to be involved in this whole drama as he is constantly threatening me that he'll hang himself in front of your house if I don't go back to him.  I don't want you to be brought down with this guy. Please forgive me. " she moves everything within 3 hours before uncle comes back home from work. She wants Vivian to leave with her but Vivian said no straight up. She totally didn't approve of what her mom's doing to her dad.  I just felt like if she really wanted to stay with uncle, she'd call the cops the first day he threatened to suicide and let the pros deal with his insanity. She's just going back to more pain and possible leading to her next attempt to suicide. Vivian would not be there to save her so for sure she'd be dead. Sigh. I just feel very bad for my uncle. Being dumped by the same woman twice. He's too nice to people, especially her. And she takes advantage of that. If that ass really cared for her and the kid, he wouldn't be selfish and end his life.

That's it for now, need sleep. Will update later.

Anne

Hello Ladies,

It's been forever since I've made a post to this blog! Mainly because I couldn't remember the sign in ID - I knew I have it stored somewhere in my email in-box but was too lazy to search for it :S.. BUT.. I have been reading all the posts to keep myself current with everything that's been going on with you ladies!

Mrs. McEwen- Congrats again! You looked gorgeous at your wedding! The pictures turned out amazing, and am very excited to hear about your trip. Maui seems like the perfect place for honeymoon.. beautiful sunshine, white beach, salty water, delicious seafood! I hope you came back with more than just a tan - possibly a little winner sperm swimming around in your stomach.. ahahaha

Mya - You're pregnant!! I still can't believe it! I'm so happy for you.. . I bet you must be super excited and nervous.. you will make a great Mom.

Lisa - Hows the new job and Car?

Shannon - Haven't seen many updated from you lately, blog more!

Simone - You're hot !

Shirbo - I love your random posts about your ex -aunt.. its like Chinese tv drama! I'm kidding, I hope your uncle is okay! :D

As for me- There has been a lot going lately..

Some of you already know this, but thought I would share here. My parents were involved in a car accident at the beginning of August. They were driving east on 401 when a truck hit the passenger side of my dads car where my mom was sitting. The impact from the hit caused the car to spin 180 and the passenger side was smashed into the middle ramp that separates the hwy from on-coming traffic. My mom experience a concussion instantly, the metal and broken glass cut her lips and face...

My mom was admitted to Sunnybrook hospital where they did various ct scans and tests, they found that she had some bruising in her head but will go away on its own, She received double stiches for her face and lip area, her teeth were knocked loose, her hips were fractured, lungs bruised and other minor cuts - My dad seemed okay at the time so hospital released him that night.. my mom stayed at the ICU for 3 nights where she lived off IV and morphine - she was later transferred to the regular rooms and stayed another 2 nights and than transferred again to Providence health care center and where she stayed 3 weeks for rehab.
They finally released my mom by mid September. She mainly relies on wheelchair and walker to get around the house and for hospital check up until her hip heals, my dad stayed at home with her during the day to look after her. Meanwhile he was doing physio

1 Week later my grandma was feeling stomach pains, my sister and I took her to emergency room, doctor did some tests, sent her home.. she's okay now. but they never quite figured out was wrong.. her fingers are swollen all the time, we took her to the family doctor for check up, but they never quit figured out what the problem is. They are pretty much giver her different medication to check out to see what works (that's our health care system for you)

Another week later, everything seem to be heading toward the right direction.. my mom and grandma both attended my sisters wedding.. the make up artist put make up to cover most of the scar on my moms face, she arrived at the wedding with a walker.. not the best way to show up at your daughters wedding, but at least she was there!

Two weeks later my mom found my dad sitting on the ground in the back yard... he had fallen over and was unable to get himself back up. My mom yelled for help (lucky I was working from home that day). Between my grandma and mom, there is no way they could have helped him up. I ran outside to find my dad sitting on the ground. at first we thought he had tripped on something and fallen over, he was flustered and he was having issues balancing himself and seemed very disorientated. (we later found out that he had suffered from a seizure) When I finally got him, he said he was okay, he rested at the steps for a bid and was able to stand up on his own.
Later the evening my mom realized that something wasn't right so she asked me to take him to the hospital. He refused to go, but we finally convinced him to.. we got to Scarborough Grace.. the doc made him do some physical tests like hop on knee and etch.. the doc noticed that my dad was abnormally weak on left side, I told the doc that my dad was involved in a car accident about a month ago. he did some tests and found that there is a servere amount of old bruises and fresh bleeding that is sitting on top of his head (mostly from the car accident) and needs to be operated on immediately.. that night they transferred him to Toronto western, 3 days later still haven't operated on him (again our health care system). His entire left side was pretty much paralyzed at this point, he was unable to walk or eat, lived off iv and needed help using the washroom (it broke my heart to see him so helpless) it was visible that his health was deteriorating. day 3 at the hospital, there was finally a slot for my dads operation. They drilled a 2 by 2 cm hole in his head to drain the blood.. he started to regain strength on his left side almost immediately after he woke up from the operation he stayed another 3 days before he was released.. its been one week since the operation.. everything seems stable...he will have another scan in a couple of weeks. doctor said if bleeding persist he may need to go through another operation...

My parents were on their way home the night of the accident from handing out invitation to my sisters wedding.. my sister blamed herself for the accident. but we all reassured her it had nothing to do with her and its all the stupid idiot drivers fault... My dad was unable to drive since the accident. It has been really tough for everyone during time with everything that's been going on. But I'm positive that everything will get better from here

Moral of story - Stay away from Trucks!!!

Anyway, I want to end this post on a positive note. I'm engaged! JK ahahaha I kid I kid!! Jason and I are no where near being engaged!
-Actually the good news is Marsha (my sister in law ) is scheduled to give birth this Friday! Yay !! I'll have another nephew to play with!

This is a pic of baby Justin trapped in a box.

Shirley

Nothing's up with me lately, except for something that had happened over the weekend. As some of you might know, my ex-aunt have decided to come back to my uncle - after leaving him for 7 years for a douchebag and having a daughter with the douche. So she made the right decision to come back and Vivian, my cousin is super happy with this arrangement as she have been waiting for this day forever.

They've moved here for almost a month now, she haven't slept in the same bed as my uncle as her excuse is that the kid will not sleep on her own. So whatever, fine.

This weekend, the asshole decided to call her and tell her he's going to commit suicide. She makes my uncle drive her ass downtown to the old apartment to look /stop him. Couldn't find him and found out he got admitted to the hospital. She's falling for the jerk's plan.

So now I don't know what's going to happen and Vivian and my uncle is super sad about this whole ordeal.

What makes me mad most is that he treated her like shit for so long that she tried to kill herself twice as well. So don't know why she'd fall for it.

But anyway, that's probably a lot for you girls to take in. I'll just leave it at that.

Going to sleep now. Have a Goodnight!

Mya

Hi Girls!!!

Thi- thank you for having us at the wedding! It was a lovely event! You looked Fantabulous as always!! I can't believe you're a MRS now =). Cheers and let's get on board w/ the baby making wagon!!!!!! LOL.

Simone- I was so distraught when I heard of what you went/are going through. I hope you are doing well and I'm sure w/ positive attitude and support from everyone you will get through this hump. Please don't forget we are here for you, we're just a phone call away. Let us know when we can visit.
P.S- I'm sure you've heard but thought I tell you myself. I'm expecting, yes I'm going to be a mommy in 2012!! =)

Lisa- How's you're new vehicle and new job?

Shirley- Congrats on the new home! Is it a new development? We're still looking and in the Markham area as well. But w/ my pregnancy and house reno, the earliest I want to move is Summer of next year.

As for me, I'm putting on more weight. Gained 3 lbs last month so I've put on a totally of 6-8 lbs since being pregnant!!! My baby bump is protruding more than before, which forced me into buying some maternity items (pants/bras). My appetite is not back to normal but at least I have a slight enjoyment in eating.
I've had a lot of blood drawn from me already. I thought I was going to faint one time when the lady said she'll be withdrawing 7 large tubes of blood (I had an empty stomach), but our body is a miracle and it has it's way of functioning.
Alfred's been to every appt w/me and everything is surreal until we got to hear the baby's heart beats together. I must've teared a little...can't believe we're soon to be parents.
EXCITING NEWS!!! I felt light flutters/movements in my belly a few days ago, and the baby kick/dance more when I had the music on =).

As for house situation, We're looking to purchase a new home but moving will be after the arrival of the baby. In the mean time, I'm really considering moving in w/ my mom bc I'm so lonely at home and when the baby is born, I will at least have several helping hands. I've been going home more often and my mom is taking really good care of me. I think pregnancy hormones play a part in my emotions and making me scatter brain as well.

Shirley

I guess it's time for me to post an update on my oh-so-boring life.

Work's work. Nothing interesting but I'm getting the groove back into things. Commute's brutal though. Used to take me only about 20-25 minutes to work and now that I moved, it takes me an hour and 15 minutes (on a good day). I think I should find a job closer to Scarborough/Markham area. There is one that I've been eyeing on.

Family have finalized on purchasing a property in Markham. It's at Brimley and Steeles, just a 5 minute walk down to Steeles so I don't have to pay double-fare. Closing's on November 7th. So I guess I get a new house for my birthday? Haha not like I'll be having a birthday party at the house or whatever =P.

I'll keep this short as I worked 10 hours today so I'm super tired...

Some Wedding Pictures

Thank you

Hey girls,

Thanks for the flowers and magazines. The flowers were lovely, and there are so many magazines, I haven't even had a chance to look at them yet.

I'm feeling better now, finally getting used to the drugs that I'm on. I still experience occasional headaches and nausea. I will go back to the hospital in a month for radiation to kill off any remaining cancer cells. Yeah, pretty crazy to have cancer at our age, but that's life :)

Sorry Thi, I missed your wedding. You should post some pictures so I can see what I've missed.

Church & Dwight

Update: The drive isn't that bad, about 45 minutes. They're flexible with the start time so I can get in anytime before 9 and leave whenever I feel like as long as I get my work done. My manager is AWESOME. People are also very nice, it's like a family there. Lots of things to learn and since it's Q4 everyone's super busy so there wasn't anyone available to train me so I'm just doing, learning and winging it as I go. Lots of fun.

On top of getting a new car, I now have a new job. It COULD potentially be the industry I'll make permanent residence and I have no doubt will lead into an opportunity in brand management, which is where I wanna be.

The company is, however, in Mississauga so an hour and a half of my day will be dedicated to commuting. I start on Monday, very excited!

Hyundai Elantra

Hey girls. So I guess car purchases really is a one day thing for me...I went out to another dealership and bought an Elantra. There are problems with supply right now and they can't get any of the colours that I'd like. White is my first choice.

Didn't have to negotiate too much on price because we just agreed about what is a fair profit for the dealership. He didn't charge any bogus fees so that's good. I asked him to throw in some mats and the cargo net. After the second time I asked for it, he turned to Andy and asked: "Do you ever say no to her?"

Andy: "Nope, she usually gets her way."

Sales: "You gotta start man, stick up for yourself. Well I'm not saying no to her either."

So I got the freebies. Andy proved useful for something at the end, cause he was just sitting there quietly observing the whole time...

Updates

First, very excited to see you girls at the wedding, especially Thi in her shimmering shoes.

The Car
It's being written off, discussing settlement value with the adjuster right now. The figure they quoted isn't bad but since there is wiggle room I might as well wiggle, I have the time. Kinda.

They are trying to push me into a corner though. They want me to return the rental vehicle on Friday. I ask if they really expected me to buy a vehicle in two days and they extended it to Monday. Still not sufficient if you ask me but whatever. I might have to pull out my inner bitch.

In terms of cars I'm considering Korean cars now since Japanese ones aren't working out so hot. The Hyundai Elantra and Veloster. I would totally go for the more expensive cars if I wasn't paying for this myself, but since I'm still jobless and don't have millions coming in from passive income I thought I'd be more practical.

Job Status
Speaking of joblessness. I went for an interview with Church & Dwight on Tuesday. Love the manager that interviewed me, very to the point and honest, she actually swore a couple of times! And near the end she said she wants me to meet with the VP of Sales before he flew the next day. This wasn't planned so I was freaking out while I was alone in the room.

As I was driving home the recruiter called and told me they loved me and that out of the three candidates the hiring manager only wants me to come in for the final interview with HR. I think this means I probably got the job...I dunno, can I assume this!? Shannon you were in HR, you tell me!

So yes, that's it from me. When things are down it can really be down but then things just do a 180 without any notice. So even though this has nothing to do with LGBT, as the Trevor Project would say: It gets better!

Shirley

So, my parents being the smart-asses they think they are, decided not to move up to the Stouffville house because it's "too far". My dad can't complain because he has a car, but my mom has the right to. She insists on still working downtown so she needs a house with easy access to TTC so she can bus down. So just last weekend we were out looking at houses with a real estate guy. Showed us 4 properties and to be honest, they all did not hit the spot. We're still looking around and will go out hunting again this weekend. Still gonna stay in the Scarborough/Markham area. I think we may be done with downtown. Probably until Mike and I get some money out of the Stouffville house and get a nice condo downtown close to work maybe?

Car Accident

Hey girls. I got into my first car accident today, well, yesterday now.

Coming back from yoga and some guy totally t-boned me trying to make a left. My car spun, lucky I didn't get hit by oncoming traffic. We were both collision newbies and didn't know what type of information we should be taking down so I just took a picture of his insurance policy, his number and let him leave.

The people in the surround houses came out to check on me cause I was kinda shocked to drive. Some nice ladies offered me water and one brought me a banana so I could get some sugar in me. Some guys came out and tried to help as well.

I ended up calling my friend from a body shop to accompany me to to collision report centre. The guy that hit me showed up 30 minutes later. I had to go back to him and get his name and other information that I'd missed and while I was leaving he had to do the same with me cause he didn't take down complete information either. LOL. Man, such newbs.

I'm kinda hoping for a write-off so I can get a new car. This one seems to be cursed, too many things happen to it...

Photography

Hey girls. So there's some heavy duty posts going up, sorry I can't keep up the trend.

I've recently been taking a photography class. Theory wise nothing special, but it does get me out shooting and getting critique for my photos which is what I need to improve. The class also came with a free 18x24 print. I just got it today and the picture I sent in was the following.

Sunrise Near Iona Beach

Now I need to find a nice frame to put it in. My bedroom walls are so bare, it's about time I put up some art.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

The Break-Up

So a few weeks ago... Francis and I broke up. I am feeling alright... I actually just returned from being away for two weeks in Bolivia. In all honesty, I'm not really in the mood to talk about it. We are working on being friends because we really have a lot mutual friends. I actually see him at least twice a week.

We broke up because he was thinking for the longest time whether he was ready to get married... and he realized over the August long weekend that he probably will never be ready and had to let me go. It was sad. But at least he told me the truth and told me when he realized it. *sigh* five years.

Anyway, thought I'd let you guys know. See you at Thi's wedding, if not earlier!

Shirley

Maybe it's time for me to update before I forget and before I get too busy.

I have recently just moved away from my childhood home of 20+ years. I'm no longer downtown next to Riverdale any more. I've tentatively moved to Midland/Steeles before my Stouffville house is finished in March. Midland/Steeles is my uncle's place so it's pleasant.

Moving was super stressful and busy. I don't want to do it ever again but I have to. I think it's especially hard when we're moving 20+ years worth of things.

I never realized my parents are hoarders until now. When we're packing, I would tell them to throw this and that out. Especially items that haven't been worn or used in years and was just placed somewhere where you can't find. If you haven't used or worn for years, then that means you can live without it. But nooooo they have argued with me so many times and gotten mad at me when I told them I'll just chuck it out myself.

Fine, if it's sentimental, then that's a different story. But not EVERYTHING's sentimental!! I wanted to move lightly and not heavily with all these things! They tell me "Everything's money. If we keep it, we won't need to buy it for the new place". Ahhhh. My mom was a lost battle already. She claimed she threw a lot already so I let her go. My dad usually is the logical one. But moving day proved me wrong. House is empty and we're just transporting the last bit of things into the truck. He goes and removes the portable window AC and decides to take it with us. WTF I was saying. I tell him, "There's no use for that any more. Uncle's place will have AC and our new house will def have AC as well." He was pissed off at me for telling him to chuck it and he said "you don't understand. When you're my age, you will." I was like WTF does that have to do with anything? I will understand how a hoarder functions when I'm his age??

So I have no way but to help him lift it down the stairs and into the truck. It was a monstrous thing mind you.

So now here I am in Midland/Steeles. Feels kind of weird not in the old house as I've been there almost my whole life. How should I cope with it? =S

Simone's surgery

Hi girls,

Just wanted to give a quick update on the status of my health. I had my thyroid surgery performed this week, and the operation was successful. I'm still waiting for the results on the malignancy of the nodule, and waiting to remove the stitches on my neck. Now that I'm off on morphine and refusing to take pain killers, there's minor to moderate pain and discomfort around my neck area. Luckily, I get 3 weeks off to recover and rest.

This experience has been somewhat emotional; but fortunately, Phil's been extremely supportive the entire time, he has accompanied me to every single appointment and surgery, and has constantly reassured me that he would still be with me even if I become a bald, dying cancer patient. When I stayed at the hospital overnight after my surgery, he was sleeping in the waiting room hobo style (newspaper as blanket and water bottle as pillow). His broken foot (result of baseball) has also added to the discomfort of his sleeping arrangement. However, Phil was a trouper and limped his way over to visit me in my room throughout the night.

I really appreciate Phil by my side during this tough time, and I feel like an ungrateful bitch for badmouthing him all the time. I shouldn't call him derogatory names just because he isn't as successful as my brother. Realistically, there isn't many people our age that could make 6-7 figures, so I really shouldn't be so hard on Phil.

Anyways, I'm just rambling on because I'm bored and can't move. I'll see you girls at Thi's wedding. Phil will be attending the wedding too, he's going to skip his family vacation so I don't have to go solo.

Caution

Caution

This is a shirt a martial arts teacher from yoga gave me. He says it's a good luck t-shirt, he's cheering me on in my job hunt. I might need to take up some karate lessons from him just so the shirt's not lying when I wear it...
